As they say, "it takes a village..." and YOUTHEATRE is what it is because of the students, parents, community members and volunteers who put their hearts into each season, but there are a few "village elders" who deserve special recognition. Without them there would be no YOUTHEATRE.
Director / Producer
Mickey Luce, a co-founder of YOUTHEATRE, was first a teacher. He taught high school and junior high for 47 years! Mickey is a 1968 bobsled olympian and a NY state torch runner for the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics. Beyond the 115 shows he has directed for YOUTHEATRE, he has also directed the Lake George High School shows for the last 45 years plus numerous other productions including SMSA Player Productions.
Sharon Luce, the co-founder of YOUTHEATRE, has been the behind the scenes magic of YOUTHEATRE since its inception. Sharon worked at BOCES with special needs students for 22 years. Since retiring, she spends her time volunteering at the Glens Falls Food Pantry and helping with the production of the various shows she and Mickey are working on.
Lanni Luce West
Lanni began her career in YOUTHEATRE at the age of 6 starring as Gretle in The Sound of Music. She spent 12 years on the stage before taking on the role of Assistant Director for the last 20 years. Lanni is a 4th grade teacher in Vermont where she lives with her husband, Paul, and their cat, Vader. She directs the drama program at her school, along with other area teen performing groups. In her free time she finds herself on stage performing as often as possible.
Amity joined YOUTHEATRE at the age of 10 and over the course of 8 years starred in numerous roles. After graduating from the program Amity remained on to help with productions, serving in many capacities. Amity has been a teacher in Glens Falls where she lives with her husband, Tony, and their son, Laken. She continues to work in drama and scenic elements outside of Youtheatre, performing and helping with the St. Mary’s School productions as well as with her church at Pine Knolls Alliance.
Laura Lee Conti
Laura Lee Conti graduated from Johnsburg Central School and continued with her love of music by earning a Master's Degree from the School of Music at SUNY Fredonia. She taught music for grades 6-12 in Thousand Islands and currently teaches at Queensbury Middle School. She also directs the middle school Select Choir and is music director for the Queensbury High School Musical. She participated in YT from ‘93-’97 and has been the music director for 12 years.
Andrea began dancing at the age of 3 and started choreographing her freshman year of high school for her schools drama club. Andrea began her performing career in YOUTHEATRE (2003-2009) and continued throughout college. She obtained her bachelors at Westfield State in Music Education and Special Education and is currently the music teacher at Hartford High School in Hartford, Vermont. She is honored to take part in another year of YOUTHEATRE.
